We can now offer tuition in lampworking / Flameworking. We teach you on a Nortel Minor Burner. If you would prefer to learn on a hothead torch, this can be arranged in advance, we also have a Midrange with Minor Top. You will be learn about -
- setting up the equipment - material and equipment types & costs - health and safety
Having been shown some basic techniques, you can then get a feel for lampworking yourself with some hands on learning. Your work will be posted on to you once it has been annealed in the kiln. Tuition is prefered on a one-to-one basis but Helen can teach up to two people at once, so you will have our undivided attention and full use of the equipment. You will also be provided with an information booklet showing what you have studied and a list of useful suppliers and contacts.
Classes are planned to last around 4 hours and need to be booked in advance. Helen tends to not teach in July and August as this is a busy time of year at the shop.
